Street Scenes are most often monumental works depicting a genre scene of anonymous characters, and presented in a story which needs to be formed by the viewer. The work is created with tension between opposite – tension between male/female, tension between color (light/dark), tension between elements of the composition (negative/positive space) – and also between what is depicted and what is not depicted.

Anonymity and ambiguity has always been an important part of all my works.

A dog is often included in my Street Scenes, and they are the only character fully depicted. My interest in dogs derive from my 11 years living in Mexico, where to my despair I learned that nothing was ever done to help the millions of stray-dogs. Over the years, I have created many sculptures of the stray dogs both in bronze and mixed media. Later they became part of many of my Street Scene works – and they still follows me along in life as a good companion.
