My works of Female Portraits are inspired from the early depiction of the female portrait, and combine my passion for the Renaissance portrait, and for the relationship between the sitter and the viewer.

As a young artist, I lived from 1970-1983 in Italy and Mexico, where I got inspired by iconography and it’s special connection between the sitter and the viewer. This interest evolved further into the early Renaissance and to the Quattrocento’s depiction of the female portrait. This marked the turning point in female portraiture from the earlier profile portrait of idealized woman to the three-quarter portraits which now expressed both emotion, personality, and direct eye contact with the viewer.

My work is often monumental and through my special newspaper weaving technique shows many characteristics common to both mosaic art and to the art of goblins.

I still travel to Italy each year for work and to renew my interest and admiration of Renaissance art
